Please Look in the Mirror. What Do You See? A Bullshitter Looking Back at You
When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Someone handsome? Beautiful? Intelligent? Successful?
BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT and… BULLSHIT!
You are looking at a bullshitter.
And I’m not saying this to offend anyone. Your friends are bullshitters too. Your spouse probably is. Your parents definitely were.
In Windgap: Stories and Observations of Bullsh*tters, Julius Kabana has spent a lifetime surrounded by experts. Mr. Lazy, Stinky, Mini Hoover, Johnny Appleseed and the rest of the Windgap gang may have different personalities, but they share one important talent.
They can bullshit with the best of them.
Bullshit is what keeps the world going around
When you think about your oldest friends, do you seriously believe every story they have told you? Of course not.
Every group has a person who makes him/her look smarter than an average rock. Slightly better looking than the hunchback of Notredame and has lots of monopoly money for you to spend.
Twenty years later, it’s the same but only worse if you can imagine that.
Do you stop being friends with them?
Hell no.
You listen, laugh, and wait for your turn to call bullshit.
The characters in Windgap may come from one little Pennsylvania town, but the personalities are tiny dried pellets of shit. They are everywhere.
Everyone Has a Windgap Group
Every group has a Mr. Lazy, who can find fifteen excuses to avoid work, responsibility, or just moving body parts to avoid getting rigor mortis. Somebody blows things out of proportion. Somebody is the smartest person in the room. And finally somebody is fucking cheap.
And somehow after all of the years passed by, you still have a lasting bond with one another.
Beneath the humorous jokes, the not-so-subtle remarks to one another, and the rip-roaring adventures, are people who have known each other for a lifetime and can tell when one person has more bullshit than another.
You probably have your own versions.
If you cannot identify them, I have bad news.
You might be Mr. Lazy.
Some Bullshit Is Actually Useful
However, let’s be real. Not all bullshit is designed to fool somebody.
Your wife asks, “Does this outfit look good?”
You say yes.
Your friend plays the worst round of golf in human history.
You say, “You weren’t that bad.”
Your kid strikes out three times.
You say, “You played great.”
Congratulations. You are officially a bullshitter.
Sometimes bullshit saves marriages, friendships, and children’s self-esteem. If everyone told the truth the whole day, you would have no friends by lunchtime.
Welcome to the Club
One of the funniest ideas running through Windgap is that bullshit is not limited to a few ridiculous people. Everybody does it. Now, some might be amateurs, but others are pro at it.
The Windgap gang simply refuses to hide it.
So look in the mirror again. You will see a bullshitter staring back at you.
Do not worry.
Your friends already knew.
